About Delaware tides
Barrier islands, big bays, and river tides: Chesapeake and Delaware bays carry the tide deep inland, and a nor'easter can hold water in, or blow it out, for days at a time.
Delaware has 22 NOAA tide stations — 8 reference stations whose predictions come from harmonic analysis of observations there, and 14 subordinate stations calculated from them. The biggest tidal range in the state is at Delaware City — 6.0 ft between mean higher high water and mean lower low water.
