About Maryland tides

Barrier islands, big bays, and river tides: Chesapeake and Delaware bays carry the tide deep inland, and a nor'easter can hold water in, or blow it out, for days at a time.

Maryland has 100 NOAA tide stations — 36 reference stations whose predictions come from harmonic analysis of observations there, and 64 subordinate stations calculated from them. The biggest tidal range in the state is at OCEAN CITY (FISHING PIER) — 3.9 ft between mean higher high water and mean lower low water.
